Thinking you need to have a certification to have an events business is one of the biggest rookie mistakes you can make. In the decade that host May Yeo Silvers has been in the events industry, not once has she ever been asked if she is certified. In today’s episode, May answers the question: do you need to have a certification to own an event planning business?
According to May, having a certification can help you further your career, but it is not always necessary. If you plan to work at a large company that focuses solely on weddings or corporate events, having some sort of higher education may be beneficial. But if you’re like May, and you desire to be an eventreprenuer, there are many other things that play a role in your success aside from obtaining a certification.
